Praying In The Spirit

In our daily lives as Christians, we have come across this word several times but we only give it a literal meaning, but if you will take time to digest the meaning of this phrase "praying in the spirit", You will understand that there is more to prayer than just kneeling down and saying your daily prayers.

The bible says in 1corinthians 14:15 "what is it then? i will pray with the spirit and i will pray with understanding also; i will sing in the spirit and i will sing with understanding also".

Most of our prayers today lack these qualities "spirit-filled" and "understanding". We have so much become used to a particular mode of prayer and not as the spirit leds in the name of religion. God is a spirit and you must be filled with the spirit to be able to connect into that realm where he dwells. You have to allow the holy spirit to do his job. The spirit of god have an active role to play in our communication with God. Your prayer should proceed as the spirit directs or gives you utterance for it to be effective. As this will go a long way to help you build a solid relationship with God or maintain already built one.

Some people do ask "Who is God? how can i pray in the spirit? Do i leap? Jump? raise my hands?or just stay still?" Apostle Paul said in 1corinthians 14:14 "for i pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful" which means that when you pray in an unknown tongue , your spirit man is communicating with the Lord without your physical man's understanding. It is deeper than our understanding can fathom. Paul went on to say in verse 18 "I thank God, i speak in tongues more than you all". Its something you have to be proud of. It is more important than the most intelligent words you can ever utter. You speak mysteries not to men but to God. That's why its important to pray lavishly and fervently with the spirit in other tongues which will cause you to be built up from within like an edifice and get you charged up with divine fire power.

This hub is both spirit-filled and to the point. Thanks for writing this. I especially appreciate where you've said praying in the spirit "is more important than the most intelligent words you can ever utter." WOW!! That hit my spirit. And then the very last line I think is beautifully expressed as well as encouraging. Way to go.
